Keep the metric name

No. CIE whiteness and an ISO brightness value are not interchangeable labels for one universal score. Record the metric and test-method context supplied by the exact source. A number without that context cannot safely be ranked against a different scale, converted by guesswork or treated as a measured result from our site.

Do not subtract unlike scales

The Steinbeis No.1 retailer record explicitly states CIE 55. The Viking record has an internal conflict:147 CIE in its description and 153 CIE in its specification table. These are not a reason to average the two or silently select one. They are a reason to ask for the current technical evidence for that exact selection.

Preserve source conflicts

Nor does a whiter-looking web photograph establish a real-world colour comparison. Lighting, camera processing, screen settings and illustrative materials can alter appearance. Our anonymous unused-paper studies are not reference samples of the selected brands. No colourimeter, spectrophotometer or controlled print comparison was used.

Ask for a current technical sheet

If appearance matters for a client document, obtain an exact current specification and a suitable sample through the seller’s actual process. Keep the purchase price and quantity comparison available, but label the unresolved appearance field honestly. A high metric is not proof of lower toner cost, better readability, archival life or universal suitability for the job.

A purchase case to keep explicit

When one quote lists CIE and another only says “bright white”, the appearance comparison is incomplete. Keep the known numerical property with its source and mark the other unknown. Do not assign a default metric to marketing words or treat an uncalibrated website swatch as a measurement.
