Use the actual inclusive package amounts
Yes. The three one-unit inclusive observations total £60.57. An actual confirmed merchandise-only credit of £60.57 leaves £0.00 merchandise, but does not automatically cover shipping or other separately entered fees. A £60.58 credit is one penny above the subtotal and is refused rather than producing a negative amount.
Allow exact zero merchandise
The ledger parses money into integer pence before multiplication. It accepts nonnegative GBP amounts with at most two decimals, within the stated maximum, and whole package counts only. This avoids rejecting an exact full credit because of binary-decimal rounding. Two user-entered £47.99 units therefore total £95.98 exactly;three £0.10 units total £0.30.
Keep separate charges after the credit
With merchandise at zero, entered £4.99 shipping and £1.25 other actual charges still total £6.24 if all remaining charges are explicitly zero. Those are test inputs, not observed retailer fees or a promise about voucher acceptance. Already-included VAT must not be entered a second time;use only genuinely additional confirmed charges.
Reject excessive or missing values
A blank fee is unknown and withholds the full total. Negative values, exponent notation, excess precision and above-limit entries are also rejected. The tool does not apply quantity tiers, validate a voucher, reserve stock or combine two retailers’ shipping thresholds. Confirm the real transaction before treating the arithmetic as a payable order.
A purchase case to keep explicit
An organisation may have a credit note that applies to particular merchandise but not delivery. Enter only the confirmed eligible amount. If a credit exceeds the entered merchandise subtotal, the tool rejects it until the actual scope is resolved;rather than treating the excess as cash back or quietly erasing separate charges.
