Keep the target and held units aligned
Choose a target in matching declared sheets, complete retail units or verified reams, and count held stock on the same basis. The tool subtracts held stock and rounds up by the selected unit. A 500-sheet Viking ream and a 2500-sheet Navigator carton have different purchasing increments even when they are both A4 80 gsm.
Round by 500 or 2500 as selected
For a Navigator target of 6000 matching sheets with 500 held, 5500 are wanted. Three complete 2500-sheet cartons add 7500, resulting in 8000 sheets held and 2000 above the target. Two cartons would not meet the stated target. The surplus is visible so you can decide whether the purchase unit suits the requirement.
Show surplus and seller limits
For a ream-based target, the selected cartons supply five verified reams each. Unknown or continuous-box ream counts cannot be invented from an unrelated package. If the Viking result exceeds its observed ten-unit limit, the tool flags the supply restriction rather than claiming the arithmetic is an accepted single order.
Do not forecast office use-days
When held stock meets the target, zero additional packs are needed mathematically. Blank, negative, fractional, exponent or over-limit counts are refused. The chosen target is yours;the tool gives no employee-count-to-days forecast or recommended office stock level. Confirm actual pack, condition, storage and current checkout before buying.
A purchase case to keep explicit
If 500 sheets already held are from a different size or unknown stock, do not subtract them as matching A4 sheets merely to reduce the order. Set the held count to the genuinely matching quantity. A smaller resulting purchase is only meaningful when both target and held values share the same supported basis.
