No. If you use the retailer’s displayed inclusive price, do not add the same VAT again. Our defaults are £4.19 per selected Viking ream, £31.19 per selected Navigator carton and £25.19 per selected Steinbeis carton. The corresponding excluding amounts are separate reference fields, not a second charge to add to those defaults.
Preserve the retailer’s displayed pair
The selected records display both figures. A business comparing ex-VAT procurement quotes can retain that basis consistently, but recoverable tax and invoice treatment depend on its own circumstances. This site provides no tax advice. The local ledger uses confirmed inclusive quotes deliberately;it does not apply a guessed rate or infer that every buyer may reclaim VAT.
Keep rounding outside the subtotal
Displayed VAT pairs are already rounded by the seller. Multiplying an ex-VAT unit price by a percentage yourself may differ from an invoice that rounds by line or transaction. Use the actual confirmed inclusive line quote for the purchase calculation and keep the source pair for audit. Do not reconstruct a final invoice from a rounded per-sheet figure.
Enter only genuinely additional charges
Delivery may also have its own ex-/inc-VAT presentation. Enter the actual inclusive delivery charge once, and enter zero for additional VAT only when that is confirmed. Blank is unknown. If a quote is exclusively ex-VAT and no inclusive payable amount is established, obtain it before mixing that quote with our inclusive records.
A purchase case to keep explicit
Before sending an order for approval, label its columns “ex VAT” and “inc VAT” in full. A bare pound sign does not identify the basis. If a supplier changes the view setting, recapture the pair or confirm the inclusive amount rather than carrying the smaller figure into a payable budget.
